Week 6 Application

I was able to attend a conference of fellow teachers in my county this week with the topic being that of technology in literacy. I learned how to use some great tools such as Moddle, Zooburst, and Smart board ideas. I used Zooburst today in class with a small group of students. For those who haven't seen this website you should take the opportunity. Zooburts is a very easy to use digital storybook that is some simple to use a primary student could be going on it in no time.

  1. After checking out Zooburts, I am amazed at how cool this is. Students would love working with this and it would bring in a new way of thinking. The program seems relatively easy to use and students could now take their 2D projects of a story or project and make it come to life in 3D. This program would be great for any art project or even as part of a language arts unit. I could see using this with my students as part of a fairy tale unit. Students could take their written stories and form a picture book that could be shared with the rest of the class. This would create much more enthusiasm than a poster board or even slide show!

  2. Jim, I had never heard of Zooburst until now. I just checked out the program and absolutely love it! It gives my students more presentation options than just the usual Power Point they are so use to using. I am going to introduce this program to my students and see how they like it. Thank you so much for sharing!

  3. This is the first I've heard of Zooburst and it looks great! It appears to be easy to use and I believe even students in primary grades would really love this! With so many movies now being made in 3D I could really see the appeal it would have with young people!

  4. It's always a great feeling when professional development can be immediately applied to the classroom. It sounds like it was a very worthwhile conference. I had never heard of Zooburst before now. I just checked it out and am amazed by how easy and user-friendly it is. I can imagine many opportunities for me to use this with my students.
